Centers of excellence on a European scale

The Aeronautics, Space and Embedded Systems Cluster, was awarded its official quality label by CIADT on July 12, 2005 as one of six international clusters. Indeed, Midi-Pyrenees and Aquitaine have constitued the leading aeronautics and space center of excellence in Europe, and one of the leading centers for embedded systems, with 94,000 employees and more than 1,200 establishments. Attribution of this label should give the cluster greater notoriety on the international level and enhance its competitiveness world-wide.

Midi-Pyrenees also holds the quality label of Cancer-Bio-Health Cluster. With a comprehensive approach to cancer research, this cluster has two goals. The first is economic, aimed at the creation of new wealth and new jobs. The second is humanitarian, with the aspiration of beating back the illness, and reducing inequalities in access to preventive and curative treatment.
