The LGV Bordeaux-Toulouse
To face the increasing request of the needs for displacement of travellers and trade and to connect at high speed Toulouse and Midi-Pyrenees in Paris, a project of railway line at high speed between Bordeaux and Toulouse were proposed.
Public debates from June to November 2005 marked the beginning of a project which will connect Toulouse with Paris in three hours and with Bordeaux in one hour by 2016.
Central Pyrenees Crossing (TCP)
In 2020, the traffic freight between the Iberian Peninsula and northern Europe will exceed the 200 million tons: 30,000 trucks crossed the Pyrenees each day.
TCP is a major European rail infrastructure project designed to keep pace with this exponential growth.
The European commission has includes the TCP in its Trans-European Transport Network, while the French and Spanish governments are currently studying possible routes through the Central Pyrenees.
Follow-up on French-Spanish agreements made in Saragossa in 2004, and in Barcelona in 2005, an invitation to tender for the first study was announced on May 9, 2006. Operationnal, territorial and environmental studies are scheduled to be concluded by 2008.
La LGV Perpignan-Figueras-Barcelone
Since 1995, the agreement of Madrid, signed between the States Spanish and French, envisages railway construction at high speed between France and Spain. The characteristic of this way is co-exitence TGV-convoys of freight.
Work was launched on July 19, 2005 in Junquera et the startup of this line is planned for 2009.
